Departure to the South Valley
Together with your guide and group, you’ll travel in comfortable tourist transport toward the South Valley, a region rich in history, culture, and scenic landscapes.
Tipon – Temple of Water
The first stop is Tipón, an impressive Inca site known for its advanced irrigation system and agricultural terraces. You’ll see perfectly designed water channels that are still functioning today, showcasing the engineering brilliance of the Incas.
Pikillacta – Wari City
Next, you’ll continue south to Pikillacta, an ancient city built by the Wari civilization. This site served as an urban, administrative, and religious center and is one of the most important pre-Inca settlements in the region.
Along the way, you’ll also enjoy views of the Huacarpay Lagoon, a beautiful wetland area surrounded by Andean landscapes.
Andahuaylillas – Colonial Art and Culture
The final stop is the charming town of Andahuaylillas, home to the renowned Church of San Pedro Apostol of Andahuaylillas, often called the “Sistine Chapel of America.”
Built in the 17th century, the church features:
- Gilded altars
- Detailed murals and paintings
- Beautiful polychrome ceilings
It is one of the finest examples of colonial art in Peru.
Return to Cusco
After the last visit, you will return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 3:00 PM.
