Early Departure from Cusco
Your adventure begins with an early departure from Cusco at 5:00 AM. You’ll travel by vehicle to the Andean community of Tawka, where your hike begins.
Hike to Huchuy Qosqo Pass
The trek starts along an original Inca trail, once used to connect Chinchero with the Sacred Valley.
You’ll gradually ascend to the Huchuy Qosqo Pass (4,200 m / 13,779 ft), enjoying panoramic views of the Andes and passing through landscapes rich in native flora and fauna, including llamas and alpacas.
Visit to Huchuy Qosqo
After reaching the summit, you’ll descend through a scenic canyon for about 1 hour until arriving at Huchuy Qosqo, an important Inca site believed to have been a royal estate of the Inca Wiracocha.
Here, you’ll have time to:
- Explore the archaeological site
- Learn about its history with your guide
- Enjoy a picnic lunch with spectacular mountain views
Descent to the Sacred Valley
After lunch, continue descending toward the Sacred Valley, arriving at Lamay, where private transport will be waiting.
Train to Aguas Calientes
From Lamay, you’ll travel to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes.
Evening in Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night in a comfortable hotel, preparing for your visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
